The “New” Kodak Share Button
I was somewhat excited at the thought of being able to share photos I just took with my digital camera when I heard of the new Kodak Share button… ok, I was very excited! The commercial of the daddy sharing the newborn photo made it seems as if they went right out of the camera, somehow connected to a wireless tower somewhere like a cell phone does or Wifi and the photo would magically appear in my facebook page! I was thrilled! But nope.
My dreams of sharing my photos right out of my digital camera were quickly shattered when I read just exactly how the whole concept works and it’s nothing new.
“You simply press the Kodak Share Button to tag the pictures on the camera and they automatically email or upload to your favorite sharing sites when you connect to a computer,” said Phil Scott,Vice President of Marketing, Digital Capture and Devices, Kodak.
When I connect my camera to a computer?! Really, am I not doing this already? There is nothing “new” about this feature but I guess it makes it "easier” to share the photos I tag from the hundred others I don’t want anywhere near the web. So with that said and while I still wait on the photo gods to send such described camera with wireless tower sharing, for now this is how the “new” Kodak Share button works…
Let me know if you find this Share Button as useful as they led me to believe or if you’re as heartbroken as I am. Come on Canon… make my dreams come true and get working on Wifi connections! =)
